one completely inconsequential thing i learned today was that there is in fact an entry-level car on the market in 2014 that is appealing to look at
i bet you could live the rest of your life without knowing i think that
its not even relevant to me, people like me cannot buy new cars and i wouldn’t need one if i could
but look at this nice shaped object

Mazda makes some god damned beautiful cars
the Mazda 6 wagon is even more lovely

Well jhrmn, since you asked, what you’ve got there is an American Motors AMX with a cheese grater up its ass.
According to this AMC fan site (about halfway down the page), this car is a 1970 AMX customized by legendary California car customizer dude George Barris. Barris is famous for his outrageous designs in the 1960’s, including the original TV Batmobile.
This car was built for a TV show called Banacek that was on NBC in the early 70’s. Apparently, it has color-changing taillights.

didn’t Barris build the Monkeemobile too, or am I misremembering

For Sale.  Here’s something you never knew you wanted, but now won’t be able to get out of your head.  Right now on ebay there’s a very clean custom 1980 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series wagon with a 5.7 L Corvette sourced GM V8. AMG? We don’t need no stinking AMG to make donuts. (on ebay, via Jalopnik and BaT)

classy move, keeping the shovelhead air cleaner
